Poor sleep quality is a consistently reported in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. The sleep quality are widely concerned because of the bad consequences of sleep deprivation. In the ICU, deareased sleep is predominant, followed by sleep fragmentation and circadian rhythm abnormalities. This article reviewed the literature regarding sleep in the ICU, and analyzed the causes of poor sleep quality and strategies of sleep promotion.
