Progress on the study of infection and the heparin binding protein

Abstract

Abstract:

Heparin binding protein (HBP) has diverse functions, It can activate monocytes and macrophages, and has significant antibacterial activity, chemotaxis and regulating inflammatory response and coagulation function. It can also modify endothelial cells, leading to vascular leakage, promoting leukocyte migration from capillaries to infected sites, and increasing vascular permeability. HBP is involved in the pathophysiological changes of the disease, and plays a key role in changing vascular permeability. Its diagnostic performance as a biomarker as well as the potential use of HBP as a therapeutic target. This paper overview the research progress on HBP in the auxiliary diagnosis of early respiratory failure, urinary tract infections, bacterial skin infections, bacterial meningitis, sepsis, early childhood urinary tract infection, acute bacterial meningitis and other inflammatory lesions, it maybe can provide a new method for the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
