Abstract:

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a life-threatening respiratory failure that can result from a variety of causes. Because of the heterogeneity in etiology, pathology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, imaging manifestations, and gene characteristics of ARDS, there are different phenotypes or endotypes of ARDS. This paper reviews the relevant research results in recent years, and the progress in research of different phenotypes and endotypes in ARDS, with an aim to help intensive care unit (ICU) doctors to better understand the phenotypes and endotypes of ARDS and provide some reference for ARDS precision medicine in future.
